Therapist:  Do you like your teacher?

Client: I appreciate my teacher. Ms. S is strict, but at least you know what will happen, unlike at home, where everything is chaotic.

Consistent parents teach their children what they want them to do. However, if the parents are unpredictable in how they discipline or their expectations of the child, the child often becomes anxious and confused. These mixed emotions can cause a child to act out with whining and tantrums.

The child in the scenario is left feeling secure and stable at school because their teacher is consistent and predictable with the classroom rules. In my opinion, when a teacher has empathy for their student’s situation while still holding them to the highest standard, this teacher provides their student with life and academic lessons.

Remember, children, go through stuff too.

Always be kind.
